I am delighted to tell you about two group sessions at Meadows Therapy: a Stress Management Group and a Weight Management Group. Both take place weekly, both are small and supportive, and you can join in person in St Albans or online.
Why choose a group?
One-to-one therapy is valuable, but there is also something special about working alongside others. Many people arrive at a group feeling that they are the only one struggling. Hearing that someone else recognises exactly what you are describing can be a huge relief.
Groups also offer shared encouragement. You can learn from what has worked for others, and offer your own experience in return. Many of the tools that help in individual sessions, such as relaxation techniques, can be practised together, which can make them easier to keep up.
The Stress Management Group
If stress has started to feel constant, whether at work, at home or just in your own head, you do not have to carry it alone. This weekly, 60-minute group blends guided hypnotherapy for deep relaxation with practical, CBT-informed strategies for recognising and managing stress before it builds up.
The group runs on an ongoing basis, so you can join when you are ready and continue for as long as it is useful. Read more about the Stress Management Group.
The Weight Management Group
If your relationship with food has felt like a constant battle, this group offers a different way forward. It is not a diet plan or a quick fix. Each weekly, 60-minute session combines hypnotherapy techniques with practical, CBT-informed tools for managing emotional eating and cravings, with a focus on sustainable and realistic change rather than restriction.
This group also runs on an ongoing basis. Read more about the Weight Management Group.
What to expect
You can share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with. Sessions are structured so that you can leave with something practical to take away each week, and there is also time to share experiences if you would like to.
Everyone in the group agrees to keep what is shared confidential. It is natural to feel a little nervous before your first session, and most people find that this soon eases when they realise that others understand.
Who leads the groups?
I lead the groups myself. I am a UKCP-accredited psychotherapist and clinical hypnotherapist, with Master’s-level training, and a member of the National Hypnotherapy Society and the National Society of Talking Therapies. I have many years of experience of supporting people with stress, anxiety and their relationship with food.

Is a group right for me?
Groups are not for everyone, and that is okay. If you would prefer to work privately, or if there are particular experiences that you would rather explore one-to-one, individual psychotherapy or hypnotherapy may suit you better. We can talk through the options during your consultation and decide together.
You can find all of my current groups on the Groups page. If you have been thinking about getting some support, joining others who understand could be a really positive place to start.
